Now that we've completed our live classroom workshop, you're on a mission to tell  your story using Storyline.  Here are some of the tutorials we practiced during the workshop!  Getting Started: Adding Interactivity with Triggered State Changes:

Storytelling & the Brain

How do you currently DESIGN your learning material? Did you say interesting? Or inclusive? Appealing to emotion? Images?  Let me share the formula I user pretty consistently: Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction.  Let's see it in action:  Let's talk for a second about that first level of instruction...Gaining a learner's attention.  Specifically, how do we do it??!? Do you know who this guy is? In 1748, this guy – John Montague was a British politician and also an aristocrat. And when you’re an aristocrat, you spend a lot of your free time with hobbies. John’s hobbies included playing cards.  But, Earl John had a problematic situation – he got hungry during a long card games and it was really difficult to set up a full dining experience while still holding your cards. So, he had this really brilliant idea to take his meats and stuff them between two slices of bread so he could hold his snack with one hand AND ho...

Design Resources!

As we start using and discovering resources, I wanted to create a post where we could share! My favorite site of all is eLearning Heroes - definitely a resource to keep on your bookmark list! This is Articulate's community of users and they are super helpful and quick when it comes to stumpers or finding templates that are free to download and use. TodaysMeet: In Person Session!

Hi all - let's use TodaysMeet to determine a time and date for our first in person session!

eLearning vs eCommunication

So...can you teach someone to dance via eLearning? via GIPHY Let's explore this concept with our screen cast session. Head over to our Google Classroom to participate in this session: eLearning Google Classroom

POLL!

Before we jump into session 2, let's get a poll going! After you vote, type your rationale into the comments section.  Can you teach someone to dance via eLearning? YES, absolutely! Nope, nope, nope... Honestly, I'm not sure. Maybe? SurveyMaker

Stumpers...they are part of the learning process too! What is a stumper? Every now and again we run into challenges that - regardless of how long you work at it - just can't seem to work. I recently had a challenge with a variable; I just couldn't get it to work despite hours of effort.  Let's use this course as a forum for stumpers...with the collective power of the group and our experts in attendance, hopefully we can tackle the stumpers and share any tips and tricks along the way!  If you have a stumper, or have recently solved a stumper, be sure to post in the comments!  One of the best resources for tackling SL stumpers is eLearning Heroes! eLearning Heroes is Articulates Community of users - and let me tell you, they are truly superheroes!  Be sure to favorite the site as it is full of discussions, blog posts, downloadable templates, and more! eLearning Heroes

Let's Talk About GOALS!

GOALS! via GIPHY So, we're all here...we're all ready to develop our design skills...let's make sure we're on the same page and talk about the objectives of this program. Also, I enjoy GIFs like it's nobody's business, so perfect opportunity to share my favorites. We will be able to distinguish the difference between eLearning and eCommunication. via GIPHY We will examine the effect and purpose of STORYTELLING in eLearning. via GIPHY We will practice building powerful eLearning stories! via GIPHY We will take those powerful stories and visualize them with the Storyline tool...and that means practicing states, triggers, and some variables! via GIPHY AND LASTLY... We will TACKLE THOSE STUMPERS! via GIPHY How does that sound? Have I missed anything? Be sure to check the syllabus out - it's one of the permanent links on the side bar. In the comments, let me know what you think about our course goals and be sure to te...
